While maintaining our aim of improving the environment with projects like the Heartbeat Reserve, Heartbeat Nursery focuses on alternative home building methods, owner-built houses, renewable energy including solar electric and solar thermal systems, wind turbines and other items important to those pursuing a more sustainable lifestyle.
In addition to the tips offered in Tomm's Tips here at Heartbeat Nursery, through our relationship with Chelsea Green Publishing, we're also appearing on the Discovery Channel's TreeHugger website and You Tube with green tips on a variety of topics.
Thanks for stopping in and and having a look around. - Tomm Stanley

Heartbeat Nursery is supporting a private initiative to re-establish over 75 acres of former farmland back into native New Zealand forest. In addition to replanting the hillside site, we are engaged in an effort to help people understand the importance of indigenous forest to the local ecology and to changing the way people think about native forests. You can see an update of our current activities each month on our Tomm’s Tips page along with bits of information related to NZ's native trees and reforestation techniques by our Director, Tomm Stanley.
We also encourage other landowners to reforest with native trees and plants in order to:
- stabilise the land
- provide natural homes for New Zealand's wildlife
- promote restoration of weather local patterns
Would you like to help us restore this piece of New Zealand's indigenous forest?
Heartbeat Nursery is located along the East Coast of New Zealand's stunning South Island, in one of the remote valleys of Banks Peninsula. For information about working holidays on the Heartbeat Reserve and other on-site programmes please contact us. |
